SERENA Williams has revealed why she avoided Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl in February.

The tennis superstar, 43, was in New Orleans to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Swift, 35, was also at the Superdome to watch her man Travis Kelce in action for the Chiefs.

Williams had hoped to secure Swift’s autograph for her seven-year-old daughter Olympia.

But the 23-time Grand Slam champion decided against it when the Chiefs fell behind.

Speaking to Time Magazine, Williams explained the situation.

She said, “I’m such a mom. I was ready to go in here myself and be like, ‘Taylor, come get this girl.’

“It’s hard when your team is losing. I totally get it.”

Swift was booed by fans when she appeared on the giant screens at the Superdome, to which Williams objected.

“Why would you boo her?” Williams asked. “That’s so mean. That’s just awful.”

In addition to watching the game, Williams also appeared in Kendrick Lamar’s half-time show.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion danced as Lamar, 37, performed Drake diss track Not Like Us.

Williams’ appearance was seen as pointed, given her dating history with the Canadian rapper.

But she has now denied that to be the case.

“Absolutely not,” Williams began “I would never do that. And that was sad, that anyone would ever think that.

“I respect how they could. Obviously I can see how someone would think that. But absolutely not.

“I have never had negative feelings towards him.

“We’ve known him for so many years.”

Williams also revealed that she was shocked to be asked by Lamar to appear.

“I’m like, ‘Wait, what, you’re asking me?’” she admitted.

“I’m not Taylor Swift, let’s be honest.

“I would have a better chance to be quarterback at the Super Bowl than dance.”
